The Provençal market is undoubtedly one of the favorite activities of holidaymakers... Where is there a market today? everyone poses at breakfast. Local products:  Fruits and vegetables from the south, apricots, baronies lime, olives from Nyons and olive oils, goat cheeses such as Picodon, Bleu du Vercors-Sassenage, black truffles, wines from the Côtes du Rhône, lavender honey, garlic, Montélimar nougat... the list goes on! Tuesday - Grignan market Wednesday - Buis les Baronnies Market Thursday - Nyons market Friday - Dieulefit market

Nyons, Niom in classic Provencal, is nicknamed “Little Nice” because of its generous sunshine. It has been a popular vacation site since the 19th century. The writer René Barjavel spent a happy childhood there and evokes the city of the heart in “La Charrette Bleue”. Visitors will enjoy discovering the Forts district, the Place des Arcades, the Huguenots cave or the Roman bridge without forgetting the Tour Randonne... Here more than anywhere else, the words of the local child take on their full flavor   “The difference between Nyons and Paradise is that we are very much alive there…”. Located on the banks of the Eygues, the Noïomagus of the Romans is the capital of Nyonsais-Baronnies and the heart of Drôme Provençale. The town now has nearly 7,000 inhabitants and enjoys ideal climatic conditions. The Mediterranean climate, sheltered from the rigors of the Mistral, benefits from plenty of sunshine and mild winters. A very rich and contrasting flora due to the orientation and the nature of the soil, makes up the Nyons plant decor of which the olive tree has always been the symbol.

Welcome to the Drôme department...The perched villages are a strong element of the identity of Drôme Provençale. All these fortifications were built on heights in the 11th and 12th centuries, to see and be seen. Small architectural treasures, they have retained their charm of yesteryear. You take the winding streets. You touch the white stone of the South. You immerse yourself in the scents of Provence. _ Allan   _ Aubres _ Bourdeaux _ chalancon _ Chantemerle-les-Grignan _ Châteauneuf-de-Mazenc _ chaudbonne _ clansayes _Condorcet _ cornillac _crupies _ Cricket _ La Bâtie-Rolland _ La Garde-Adhémar _ The laupie _ La Motte-chalancon _ The poet-laval _ Le-poët-Sigillat _ Time _ Malataverne _Marsanne _ Mérindol-les-Oliviers _ Mirabel-aux-Baronnies _ Mollans-sur-Ouvèze _ Montaulieu _ Montbrun-les-Bains _ Montségur-sur-Lauzon _ Pont-de-Barret _ Puygiron _Reilhanette _ Rochebrune _ Rochefort-en-Valdaine _ Roussas _ Rousset-les-Vignes _Sahune _ Sauzet _ Savasse _ Saint-Auban-sur-Ouvèze _ Saint-May _ Saint-Nazaire-le-Désert _ Saint-Restitut _ Sainte-Jalle _Valaurie _ Venterol _ Verclause _ Vercoiran _Visan _ Volvent THE MOST BEAUTIFUL VILLAGES IN FRANCE MONTBRUN-LES-BAINS built on the foothills of Ventoux, LE POËT-LAVAL founded by the Knights of Saint-Jean of Jerusalem, LA GARDE-ADHÉMAR nestled around the Saint-Michel church, a jewel of Romanesque art. _ GRIGNAN built around the castle and the collegiate church.

The history of Montélimar nougat You are right at the gates of the sun, in the heart of the south, between Ardèche and Provence, where you can hear the cicadas in summer and where the first fields of lavender appear: welcome to Montélimar where you will find the famous nougat from Montélimar. Nougat made its appearance in Drôme Provençale in the second half of the 17th century without it having ever been possible to find the name of its creator! We simply know that Olivier de Serres introduced the first almond trees to the region at the end of the 16th century. The history of Montélimar nougat was born thanks to the cultivation of almond trees and the breeding of bees: almond and honey being the two main ingredients of nougat! For the little story… The international notoriety of nougat was made thanks to Émile Loubet. A local man, born near Montélimar, he was President of the Republic from 1899 to 1906. It is said that he offered nougats to all the personalities passing through the Élysée. Thus, it made it possible to make this sweet treat known abroad.
